How this garden is organized

Every page on this site is one of five kinds, and the kind is the folder in the URL. Read this once and the rest of the garden stops being a mystery. This page covers the shape of the garden and the quirks a reader runs into. The rules behind the kinds live in AGENTS.md, which is the schema the agent works from. This page is the reader’s version of it.

The kinds of page

  • Concept (/concepts/). One idea, pattern, or claim. This is the atomic unit, so a concept page is about one thing and tries to cover all of it. Short here means scoped, not unfinished.
  • Entity (/entities/). A person, company, tool, journal, or place. Entity pages carry who someone is and what this garden has read them in.
  • Source (/sources/). One page per thing read: a paper, a video, a gist. A source page is the agent’s summary plus the pointers back to it, not a copy of the original.
  • Synthesis (/syntheses/). Comparisons and the running argument. These are the pages that take a position, so they are the slowest to grow.
  • Note and article (Notes/, Articles/). My own writing. A note is short and feed-first, and its content is its title. An article carries a title and a description of its own. Neither is written by the agent.

Start with one of each kind: doomer-taxonomy for a concept, cal-newport for an entity, and vaccaro-2024-human-ai-meta-analysis for a source.

Growth stage

The properties block under the title says seedling, growing, or evergreen. Those are the garden words, and they describe revision, not confidence. A seedling is a first honest pass. Growing means the page has met a second source. Evergreen means it has been revised enough times that its shape stopped moving. I still revise the evergreen ones.

What is not on this site

Diary entries never leave the vault, so a dated journal is not a post. See docs/adr/0009. Raw captures and clipped articles stay private too, and the build refuses those folders by name rather than by flag, which means a mistaken publish: true cannot ship them. Everything else sits at publish: false until I flip it, so a page that exists in Obsidian may not exist here yet.

Moving around

Backlinks sit at the bottom of every page and they are the best way in. The graph view shows what the garden thinks belongs together. Tags are loose groupings and folders are strict ones, so a tag page may mix a concept with the source page that introduced it. Search covers published text only.
