The name is a pseudonym for Margaret Mitchell. Mitchell’s Wikipedia article lists “Shmargaret Shmitchell” among her names. Two independent signs inside the paper agree: reference [86], “Model cards for model reporting” (2019), lists Margaret Mitchell as first of its eleven authors, and the distortion’s target, the surname Mitchell, is visible in the byline itself. The paper does not state why this byline was chosen. What motivated it is press record, not filed fact here.

Reference [103], “Perturbation sensitivity analysis to detect unintended model biases”, also lists her as Margaret Mitchell.
