One prompt awe

Definition: the jolt of walking away from an AI mid-task, returning, and finding a huge feature list sort of kind of implemented. The name is Mark Jivko’s, from 2026-10-04-youtube-jivko-ai-weekend at 1:12:

“Throw some huge-ass grocery list of features at an AI, go for a walk, then come back and stand there in awe that the thing sort of kind of works… I call this phenomenon one prompt awe. And if you do this for long enough, you begin to convince yourself that AGI is here or some crap.”

Why it misleads

A greenfield one-shot success measures a different thing from software engineering. Iterative work on a codebase you did not design, adding a feature without knowing the whole problem up front, is where the slop-code-bench failures live. One prompt awe only ever samples the easy mode. The compounding of that sample is the entry path to ai-psychosis.
